Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk

On Sunday the 3rd September 2017, our inspirational leader and Registered Manager, Shirley Wright, joined over 4000 people united in completing the Memory Walk with the Alzheimer’s Society. Shirley and her fellow walkers, marched an impressive 4 miles through the picturesque setting of Croxteth Park in Liverpool all fundraising for a great cause. The proceeds of the walk contribute towards the purchase and upkeep of equipment and resources needed for vital research and investigation to help improve diagnosis, care and treatment of Dementia.
Shirley is passionate about supporting people living with Dementia and wants her entire team at Right at Home to share in that desire, ‘We support many clients living with the condition and with the Alzheimer’s Society predicting there will be over 1 million people living with Dementia by 2020, we fully recognise that our role in our clients and their family’s lives will grow and therefore we need to keep building our own skills and that of our teams.
‘We (at Right at Home) are already known as home care specialists in Dementia but we need to continue on that journey and be proactive in how we understand the effects of the condition. We need to be the best we can be so we can continue to deliver the best levels of care in the home. I am totally committed to ensuring my team and I feel well equipped to handle all of the challenges that Dementia presents, our sole objective is to enable our clients to remain at home, leading as dignified and as independent an existence as they possibly can and we will absolutely deliver against that. We aim to surpass the expectations of all those we work with and that mantra is what drives us forward.
Dementia unfortunately is not something we will see an end to anytime soon, we recognise the role domiciliary care providers must play and we are absolutely up for the challenge!’
