Lemonade Scones - a kidney friendly receipe

As part of Nutrition and Hydration Week 2025, we have been cooking things up with our clients.  Here's a recipe that our Gail cooked up with our client Alan for Lemonade Scones from the Kidney UK YouTube https://kidneycareuk.org/ 

Only three ingredients needed: 450g self raising flour, 200ml lemonade and 200ml double cream.  Option jam and clotted cream to serve.

1.  Pre-heat the oven to 200c/ gas mark 6.

2.  Mix everything in a bowl to make a dough.

3.  Knead briefly then tip onto a floured surface and use your hands to pat the dough out to about 3cm depth.  Cut out 12 scones using a standard round cutter and place on a greased or lined baking tray.

4.  Bake in the over for 10 to 12 minutes until brown and risen.

5.  Serve one scone per person with one tablespoon of your favourite jam and two tablespoons of clotted cream.
