Meet Cruella

Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole: What were your overall thoughts on the day? Did you enjoy it?
Cruella: It was very organised and very warm and welcoming. I really enjoyed myself, felt really confident. The glam team were amazing.
Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole: Did they have a specific vision for how they wanted you to look or were you able to direct it?
Cruella: They had really amazing skills, however, would have preferred more natural curls than the 80’s style bouncy curls they gave me. Everyone has complimented it anyway! Amazing, natural colours and the make-up artist followed my visions. I, overall, felt really happy with the look.
Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole: What made you talk about those specific stories?
Cruella: They were a massive staple in my career and in a medical standpoint as well as a human standpoint in the sense of giving back to a community that often gets forgotten about, like my own Trans community. They were chosen to encourage and inspire other people no matter who or what you are.
Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole: You said you felt included and supported by the company, how was it you felt we did this?
Cruella: All the team at Right at Home that participated, we all reassured each other and felt like a team, just like my own team at work/Bournemouth branch.
Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole: What would you suggest to other employers to be more inclusive?
Cruella: Be brave. Be authentic. Follow your own moral principles rather than following others. To stand up for others when they haven’t got a voice whilst promoting and encouraging your own voice. LGBTQIA+ training should be mandatory throughout all care sectors and other authorities to be able to ensure a safe working environment for all.
Right at Home Bournemouth and Poole: What did the statement “More Than Care” mean to you?
Cruella: It means going above and beyond in every area of your career, whilst also highlighting the individualities that come through the doors of care. Everybody is welcome and entitled to equal effective and outstanding quality of care.
