Right at Home Brentwood, Billericay & Rayleigh Supports Local Care Providers at ‘Providers Unite’ Westminster Rally
Published: 13/03/2025
Right at Home Brentwood, Billericay & Rayleigh recently met with Richard Holden, MP for Basildon and Billericay, at the ‘Day of Action’ rally, where many care sector representatives called for much-needed social care reforms.
The ‘Day of Action’ was organised by a grassroots coalition of care providers and saw hundreds of participants march through Westminster on 25 February 2025. They urged the government to enact crucial reforms to support the social care sector.
John Walsh, Managing Director of Right at Home Brentwood, Billericay & Rayleigh, joined fellow providers in calling on the government to exempt care organisations from changes to employers’ National Insurance contributions and to provide emergency funding to cover rising employment costs — measures introduced in the Autumn Budget.
Richard Holden also voiced his support for exempting care providers from the planned National Insurance increase, highlighting the “long-lasting, negative” impact it would have on providers, their staff, and vulnerable people who rely on care and support to live independently in their communities.
During discussions with Mr Holden, we emphasised the vital, life-changing role that care providers, such as Right at Home, fulfil in local communities. We enable vulnerable adults to remain safe and cared for in their own homes, while also encouraging Clients to stay active by attending local events and groups.
Our support not only safeguards our Clients at home but also eases pressure on the NHS. With help from our CareGivers, many of our Clients regularly attend medical appointments, such as those with GPs, dentists, opticians, and hospitals, reducing the need for extended hospital stays. We further assist the NHS by facilitating swift hospital discharges, conducting timely care assessments before home care services begin.
