Reflecting on the year (2024)
It has been a very busy but productive year for Right at Home Bristol.
We started 2024 on a high, our Community Lunch Club celebrated a year of being open in January. It is a fantastic and welcoming group and throughout the year we have had many visitors, from singers to school groups and the council who have offered talks and advice to the group on various topics. We look forward to Lunch Club continuing and helping to build positive relationships within the community through the coming years.
The Park Primary School pupils have also been a welcome addition to our Lunch Club sessions, these have proved a hit with not only the older people but also the children and just shows the importance of intergenerational connections. The children also invited us to their first Rock Steady Easter Concert in March, this was a great show and there was some fantastic musical talent on display. The next year has some exciting sessions planned with the children.
Also in March, some of the team at Head Office attended the Homecare Awards, at the award ceremony Right at Home UK picked up the Gold Award for Outstanding National Provider of the Year, this is an amazing achievement and is testament to the hard work all our directors, managers, staff and caregivers put in each day.
Throughout the year we have attended two street fairs in Hanham to promote what we do and advertise our job vacancies. It has been great to get out into the local community and meet new people, some even left with a little gift.
In September we, along with We are BS15, opened our dementia friendly coffee morning. Young at Heart has been a great success with attendee’s enjoying bingo, raffles, singers, craft activities and so much more. We look forward to continuing this partnership and inviting even more members of the public to join us. Young at Heart runs from 11am-1pm on Wednesdays, we are also joined by staff from the Carers Support Centre every third Wednesday of the month, they are happy to provide a listening ear and advice/support for those that care for someone.
December was a busy month for us with Christmas preparations well underway. We received some fabulous hand painted Christmas cards from Beacon Rise Primary School and were able to hand these out to staff members, guests who attended our coffee morning and Lunch Club, there were even enough left to donate to an emergency night shelter for the homeless in Bristol. Thank you so much to Beacon Rise Primary School for thinking of us and helping us bring a touch of Christmas magic to the community.
Mid December Lunch Club members and members of the public enjoyed a fabulous two course Christmas dinner, this was followed by a Christmas Quiz then Right at Home Bristol’s Annual Carol Service. The meal was delicious and was enjoyed by all. The Carol service was also a big hit with the most attendees to date. We had readings from Right at Home staff members, Children from Park primary School and some amazing singing from the children and the church choir, this was followed by festive refreshments and was a great way to finish off the year.
RIGHT AT HOME BRISTOL WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR AND A BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT.
