Joanne

CareGiver for Camberley

A little bit about Joanne:

Prior to joining Right at Home, Joanne was a production supervisor for a medical diagnostic company, they were one of the first to produce covid tests! She stayed with them for 23 years - her loyalty is amazing! She brung her dedication and hard work over to us, where she has been a caregiver for over 18 months now.

What inspired you to join Right at Home?

Both my parents had major health issues My father had parkinsons and passed away in a nursing home and my mother had a stroke and passed away during covid Having cared for them both at home and using the services of carers myself I felt it was something I would be good at,having my own experiences to draw from.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Arriving at my clients with a smile and making them feel at ease Having a chat and a laugh while delivering personal care but also always remaining professional. Most calls involve preparing breakfast, lunch or an evening meal, maybe doing some light housework, laundry and ironing.

What do you enjoy or find most rewarding about your role?

The fact that I'm enabling clients to remain in their own home for as long as possible and to be relatively independent.

Can you share a memorable moment or achievement that you have experienced as a caregiver?

Taking a client to visit his wife in hospital and witnessing how happy they were to see each other

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

I'm an avid book reader especially crime fiction.

Do you have any pets? If so, what?

I have my lovely cat Billy a ginger and white boy who is 17 months old and really too pretty to be a boy.

What’s your hidden talent that (until now) most people don’t know about?

I have a forklift license.
