Great Training Opportunity’s with Right at Home, Cardiff & Newport
Published: 06/08/2019
Right at Home, Cardiff & Newport provides regular training to new and existing staff on First Aid, Medication, Moving and Handling.
Our ongoing support and access to QCF Qualifications in Health & Social Care is encouraged for all staff. Part of our training package covers Dementia Friends which is the biggest ever initiative to transform how the nation thinks, acts and talks about dementia.
Right at Home regularly holds Dementia Friends information sessions and is now committed to creating 1,000 new Friends within the next twelve months.
Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative which aims to give people a better understanding of what it is like living with Dementia. This helps to encourage kindness and understanding, so that everyone affected by dementia feels part of, not apart from, society.
Dementia doesn’t care who you are; it could affect us all. Because public understanding is so poor, people with dementia often feel – and are – misunderstood, marginalised and isolated. And that means that they’re less likely to be able to live independently in their own communities.
Becoming a Dementia Friend simply means finding out more about how dementia affects a person – and then, armed with this understanding, doing small everyday things that help. For example, being patient in a shop queue, or spending time with someone you know who’s living with dementia.
United, we can transform the dementia landscape.
