At Right at home, Cardiff & Newport we pride ourselves for employing great CareGivers that go above and beyond in their roles and truly care for the clients.

Here is an insight from two of our CareGivers who both work extremely hard during this pandemic as live in carers.  We wanted to share this with our readers to give an insight of how live in care takes centre stage in providing safe coronavirus care alternative.

Caroline and Janette both care for our client this means that no other carer had to visit the home and therefore the risk of the client getting the coronavirus was minimized. It also meant that the office staff did not have to worry about finding carers to do the domiciliary calls.

During this lengthy time, they have worked together as carers, in harmony for the sake of their working relationships and our client’s wellbeing this is despite not knowing each other very well before the lockdown. They have arranged a timetable that suits everyone’s needs. Mainly keeping to the given times by the office but in a more relaxed way.

They have learnt how to order online shopping and have kept the family in contact with their mother via telephone or Skype, their support is essential so they can monitor our client whilst she is conversing with family. Without care, family and friends would not be able to keep in contact and they are extremely grateful for the support.

Caroline and Janette have said they involve their client when cooking, and have helped improve wellbeing.

”Our client sits in her wheelchair and joins us in the kitchen/diner to supervise.  We also have our Sunday dinner together at the table; this is a social event that we all enjoy. We have turned around her diet and include plenty of fresh produce, as a result our clients diet is amazing. Our client has persistent cough and a night without a cough is rare. We had to do something as our client was sleeping all day due to tiredness and therefore not eating or drinking.

We monitored the situation and have taken precautions with new humidifier and small changes to her diet, our client appears to have made a good dent in the pattern of sleep already. This truly is a positive and we remain positive for the future. I guess, what we are trying to put over is that it isn’t solely care that we give. We give so much more.  We give ourselves a tap on the back because no one else knows what we do. We are two live in carers, working for Right as Home, that make a big difference to the daily life of our client and her family.

We have written this in an attempt that others will now see the constant input that we as live in carers give, particularly during the current crisis. It isn’t simply care. It is much much more.”

We are so very proud of our caregivers and the support they are providing. If you’re thinking of having a Live-in care package, then this can be tailored to meet your exact needs. Every Right at Home CareGiver goes through a vigorous recruitment process before they are hand-selected to match each Client. We hire only the very best CareGivers who are completely focused on making a difference in their Clients’ lives – every day.

With live-in care, a dedicated CareGiver can isolate with your loved ones, preventing them from coming into contact with other people unnecessarily.
