Our Care Coordinator Megan re-joins the Right at Home Cardiff & Newport family after three months.

Megan joined us in July 2020 as a caregiver, she quickly progressed to become a Care Coordinator for the Newport area despite being only at a very young age of seventeen at the time. Megan left to work for another domiciliary care provider as a Care Coordinator in August 2021, but decided to come back to her previous job with us in October 2021.

“When I first left school, I worked at Asda and McDonald’s like most people at my age but I quickly realised I wanted to do something that helps people. I decided to give care a go and became a caregiver and this is how I found my passion. Although I was absolutely terrified on day one of my induction training but I stuck with it and pushed myself hard.”

Managing Director Joe Guishard commented:
“Megan excelled as a care coordinator, having worked as a caregiver, Megan recognised that it’s vital to build relationships and establish trust with both caregivers and clients in order to make sure things run smoothly with as little disruption as possible.”

Right at Home Cardiff & Newport currently has five Care-Coordinators, each of them has the responsibility to allocate caregiver rota, act as the first point of contact for both clients and caregivers & liaise with clients and other health care professionals such as District Nurses.
Care Coordinators often work under pressure responding to last minute changes requested by the clients and the caregivers.

Megan explained why she loves being a Care Coordinator:
“What I enjoy the most is the interaction; I speak to caregivers everyday whether it’s carrying out appraisal or supervision duties, caregivers trust me to support them whenever they need it. When I worked for a different company briefly before coming back to Right at Home, I felt like I was only a scheduler and I really missed the hustle and bustle working as part of the busy admin team with Right at Home Cardiff & Newport. On my first day back in the office, I felt so nervous but everyone was really welcoming, I felt like a weight off my shoulders – I am home!”
