As we get older, health conditions, mobility limitations, reduced hearing and a lack of energy can play a part in keeping us from being as socially active as we once were. A diminishing social life often happens gradually as family members grow busy and close friends experience the same conditions. Social group activities for the elderly can prevent, or reduce, feelings of loneliness and improve people’s outlook on life.
Right at Home (Ealing, Hounslow, Chiswick, Acton) are keen to reduce feelings of solitude and loneliness for our clients, both young and old, and therefore we actively promote our clients attending social events and we aim to support elderly relatives to stay active with family, neighbours and friends.
Our carers can support your loved one to keep in touch with friends and family; supporting with their personal care and appearance to get them ready for a family event, or escorting them to local clubs and social groups. We also spend quality time with clients in their own home, including preparing meals and eating together, talking and listening to music. We aim to match our carers to our clients personality so they get the most out of their companionship.
If you feel that your loved one would enjoy joining the local rotary club, bridge club, choir or another community group, please let us know and we will be more than happy to support them to find the best club to suit them.
A small hobby can make a huge difference to a loved one’s well-being.
