So many of the activities and events we had planned for 2020 have had to be cancelled or changed, we haven’t been able to engage with our Clients, their families and our community in the ways we would have liked. We’re crossing everything that at some point in 2021 we can resume business as normal, and we’ve got plenty in the pipeline!
Our lunch clubs at Wilpshire Methodist Church proved really popular when we were able to run them – encouraging our Clients out of the house and getting together for a brew and a chat. We can’t wait to get this up and running again!
We also had great plans to run a dementia-friendly cinema club at a local church hall. This would give Clients who would struggle in a normal cinema setting the chance to watch films from their era and even join in with a singalong!
Through one of our Client’s family members, we have been invited to take advantage of Samlesbury Area Civic Society’s beautiful Dementia Garden. The garden has been developed with those living with dementia in mind – to spend time pottering about, building bird and hedgehog boxes or just enjoying the peace and tranquility. This will be lovely for our Clients when the warmer weather comes.
These are just a few of the ideas we have for the coming year. Everyone will be looking forward to getting out and about again, and we hope to able to help our Clients do the same!
