We are changing misconceptions about the homecare sector, highlighting the crucial work and ever-changing roles of our care workers.

At Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth, we are celebrating the hard work of our community care professionals, who play a vital role in ensuring people can thrive at home. As part of a nationwide campaign by Right at Home UK, we proudly showcase the diverse responsibilities involved in homecare and challenge the misconception that caregiving is an unskilled job with no room for progression.

The 'More Than Care' campaign highlights the vast range of career opportunities available. This initiative features care professionals from across the country reflecting on their life-enriching decisions to enter the homecare sector.

Our care professionals are making an effort to getting to know Clients specific needs.

At Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth, our dedicated care workers and office staff are sharing their stories about their careers in care and the positive difference they make in our local community every day.

There are many examples of our team going above and beyond for our Clients, making the care at home extra special. For example, Megan, our youngest CareGiver, spent time learning about a Clients favourite cuisine and dishes, so they could be included in their weekly shop. This enabled the Client to get a lot more out of her meal times and enjoy foods they had been missing out on for the last few years!

How is the role of the care professional changing?

According to Heather Wehrle, Director of People and Brand at Right at Home UK: “The role of a care professional has evolved significantly over recent years. Today, community care workers possess a wide range of technical skills. To meet this evolution, the quality of training, learning and development opportunities has progressed to ensure this proud workforce can meet the demands of the communities they serve.”

Tony Macrae, Owner of Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth, explains: “Being customer-centric means that we must be empathetic and put ourselves in the customers shoes, gaining insights into their specific needs and ensuring our own staff are highly trained to deliver the quality care every time...”

At Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth, we invest heavily in staff development.

We provide tailored career pathways that align with our care professionals' homecare aspirations. Through our extensive array of training courses, personalised coaching, and mentoring, we empower our care professionals to achieve their goals within the social care sector.

Gina, who has progressed from CareGiver to Field-care supervisor, showed her experience and understanding of the industry with her first Clients. She built a strong relationship with a Client who we were able to help transition into a care home with their partner. These are skills Gina brings with building strong connections with Clients and CareGivers.

What makes Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth a great place to work?

Tony Macrae commented: “We believe that by treating our CareGivers properly, rewarding their hard work and building a culture of trust - that they will maintain that same quality and compassion with our Clients.”

He added: “Our CareGivers are vital in allowing our Clients to remain comfortable, independent and safe in their own homes.”
