Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth’s successful Skydive and Fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society.

Exeter homecare team raise nearly £2000 for Alzheimer's Society after completing skydive.

Published: 10/10/2023

On the 7th of October, after two postponements due to bad weather, the Right Home Exeter and Exmouth team made the jump! The skydive buzz experts at Dunkeswell thought a jump from 15,000 feet would be more worthwhile, so the original 10,000 feet plan was changed! After a minute of freefall, followed by a steady parachute descent, the team landed safely in the field completing a thrilling and successful charity event.

Alzheimer’s Society provided great guidance and support in the lead up to the skydive. They were able to assist with fundraising material and Alzheimer’s Society branded T-shirts, which looked great in the photos. Katie and the team will look at additional fundraisers in the future, as the cause remains important to them and the business.

Although no Right at Home Client’s were able to attend, many sent their well wishes and support for the brave skydivers. This was appreciated along with the family and friends who were there on the day.

Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth were able to raise a exceptional £1,865 on their justgiving page, and an additional £100 from a fundraiser at the local Sainsbury’s. These funds will go towards Alzheimer’s Society, educating people on the signs and forms of dementia and further researching treatment.

Alzheimer's Society reports that there are around 900,000 people living with Dementia in the UK, with an estimated 209,600 developing it this year. By 2040, it is expected that 1.6 million people will have dementia. This further highlights the importance of the fundraiser and why the team are so proud of this achievement.

Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth will continue to support people with dementia in the local community and organise more fundraisers in the future for the Alzheimer’s Society.
