The thrill of jumping out of an airplane at 10,000 feet is not for the faint of heart, but for Katie Derrick and the fearless team at Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth, it's all in the name of a noble cause. On September 24th, Katie, who manages the homecare service, will be joined by Managing Director, Tony Macrae, CareGiver Belinda Blackwell, and Katie’s own mother, Anne Charles. Together, they will embark on a skydiving adventure at Dunkeswell airfield, all to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.
Alzheimer's Society holds a special place in their hearts, not just because it's the official charity partner for Right at Home but also due to a personal connection. Last year, a family member was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, inspiring Katie and her team to take to the skies for this incredible charity.

Right at Home Clients and CareGivers will be on the ground, providing enthusiastic cheers and support, making sure this incredible act of courage doesn't go unnoticed.
The goal is to raise an impressive £1,700, while also highlighting the vital work the Alzheimer's Society do and educating others about recognising the early signs of Alzheimer's and various forms of dementia.
Alzheimer's Society reports that 1 in every 14 people aged 65 and over in the UK is currently living with dementia. If current rates of prevalence continue, it is projected that by 2040, there will be over 1.5 million people with dementia in the country.
Katie Derrick, registered manager at Right at Home Exeter and Exmouth said: “I’m really proud (and slightly nervous!) to be taking on this challenge to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. The charity skydive was my idea, I was actually inspired by many of my homecare Clients and wanted to do something bold to help raise money and give something back to the charity. I still can’t really believe I’m going to be jumping out of a plane!”
Tony Macrae, Managing Director at Right at Home Exeter & Exmouth said: “When Katie came to me and told me she wanted to organise a skydive, I thought it would be a great idea for the team and I to take part. Not only is Alzheimer’s Society our official charity partner, but it’s also an organisation that has particular significance for Katie and the rest of my team. The more money we can raise for such a great cause, the better, so please do donate if you can.”
The countdown has begun for the skydive, and with their courage and the support of generous donors, Katie and her team are soaring towards their goal.
