Ken Deary

Owner and Chairman

Ken has a wealth of experience in franchising, the care sector and business, and has received a number of prestigious awards throughout his career.

An Economics graduate from the University of Leeds, he is a qualified Chartered Accountant who enjoyed a highly successful career within a FTSE Top 30 multinational. Ken also holds an NVQ Level 4 in Social Care.

His expertise in franchising has grown from 11 highly successful years as a McDonald’s franchisee, from 1994 to 2005, during which time Ken won the McDonald's Golden Arches Award for Outstanding International Franchisees and the ultimate British franchisee accolade – The British Franchise Association (BFA) Franchisee of the Year 2002.

Having run a successful care home since 2006, Ken then sought the opportunity to link his unique care, franchising and business experience together and became UK Master Licence Holder for Right at Home International in 2009.

Having overseen the development of Right at Home UK into a network of 75+ franchises, in 2021 Ken saw two record-breaking achievements before moving from CEO to group chairman. 

He became the first ever person to win both of the bfa's top awards; first as a Franchisee and then as a Franchisor, when Right at Home won the HSBC Gold Franchisor of the Year Award. 

It was also the first company to hold both of the franchise industry's most prestigious awards; the bfa Gold Award and the WorkBuzz Best Management Franchise Award.  

Ken is a strong advocate of ethical franchising: he currently chairs the board of the British Franchise Association having chaired its Quality Standards Committee for a number of years previously.

In January 2022 he handed the operational reins of Right at Home to CEO Lucy Campbell, but Ken remains an active presence in the network, supporting franchise owners and evaluating those who wish to join the network.
