Building trust at our Annual Conference

Published: 30/09/2018

Last week Right at Home UK held their 5th annual conference. Since 2013, this event has grown significantly; we’ve gone from a handful of business owners meeting a National Office team of 2, to this year, bringing more than 100 people together to network, learn and innovate. The theme of the conference was ‘Building Trust’. It’s important to us that new owners trust the Right at Home brand to help them succeed. In turn, owners biggest assets are their care teams and the leadership and culture within their businesses can have a significant impact on how Clients trust their team and our collective brand. This conference addressed the challenge of building trust through strong relationships, building trust with Clients, their families and the wider community.

Harnessing the power of the network

As always, the conference focussed on our network of Right at Home franchisees, providing them with inspiration, encouragement and information, as part of their on-going commitment to offer support and training. And for the second year in a row, they were also joined by some of their International Partners.

“We wanted to utilise our time together, and find the best ways to harness the power of the franchise network,” explains Kate Dilworth, Franchise Recruitment Coordinator, Right at Home UK. “Experience has shown how tough the path to success is, so we want to ensure both those owners coming into the network, and those who have been with us from the start, feel as prepared and supported as we can make them.”

With the development of key resources, the conference was the ideal environment to introduce and train owners on our new strategic tools. Ken explains, “The experience of our early franchisees, combined with the growing expertise of the National Office support team, has enabled us to sharpen our franchise system, as well as improve the support and guidance we offer. We have a duty of care to our franchisees, just as they have a duty of care to our clients.”

The second day of the conference brought with it some excellent training on building trust through community engagement, through digital communication & PR, through team communication and through strong leadership.

This was followed by the inspirational Jaco van Gass, war veteran, Arctic explorer and champion cyclist. Drawing on his experiences, Jaco offered insight into the importance of challenging yourself even if the odds seem against you and if you work as a team you can achieve amazing results – even in the most demanding of environments.

Building Trust

Right at Home offers exceptional home-based care, with the aim of making a difference every day. At the heart of what we do is the desire to protect our clients’ independence, so they can continue to live in their own home with our support. But Ken believes Right at Home has more to achieve. We want to become a major name in social care in the UK. We want to be renowned for quality, renowned for caring about our clients, our staff and our franchisees. I want us to be instrumental in shaping the market towards high quality care, and in restoring value into the care workers’ role.”
