Right at Home Colchester & District has raised more than £1,000 for a charity that has proved to be a lifeline for both its Clients and staff.
The team has donated £1,010 to St Helena Hospice, which supports people facing incurable illness and bereavement.
The money was raised at a charity quiz night, which took place at Colchester Rugby Club in September and was supported by raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
RaH Colchester’s partnership with St Helena has been vital to ensuring cohesive support for its Clients at all times.
The hospice offers a 24/7 phone line, which provides a single point of contact for Clients and their loved ones. CareGivers can also use this service, named ‘Single Point’, for advice and guidance to ensure their Clients receive the best care possible at the end of their lives.
Peter Flannery, Owner of Right at Home Colchester, said: “I am extremely proud of our fundraising efforts on behalf of St Helena. The hospice delivers their fantastic services with limited NHS funding, so we will continue to help them in any way we can to enable them to continue providing vital care and support to local residents and their families.”

RaH Colchester’s relationship with St Helena has not only supported the provider on a professional level, but touched the lives of many local residents, including its own team members.
Gina Emmins, Registered Manager at RaH Colchester, said: “Single Point was a lifeline for me and my family when my nan was receiving end of life care. They offered 24/7 support and were extremely friendly and approachable.
“We also have a CareGiver who was supported by the hospice when her husband very sadly died. Even years later, they still support her with free counselling and complimentary therapies. This wouldn’t be possible without charitable fundraising in the community.”
The donation from RaH Colchester will go towards helping people in North East Essex facing incurable illness and bereavement; supporting them in their homes, over the phone and at the hospice.
On receiving the funds, Rebecca Corser, Community Fundraiser for Colchester at St Helena, thanked the franchise team for its continued support.
She said: “It was so lovely to celebrate Right at Home’s incredible fundraiser last month. We simply cannot thank them enough for all their support and for their friends, family and colleagues for donating so generously and taking part in the wonderful quiz night.”
