2024 ended on a high for the Right at Home network, with several franchise teams picking up prestigious awards.
In the final quarter of the year, offices from Bridgend to Twickenham were recognised for their outstanding achievements at awards ceremonies celebrating excellence in both business and social care provision.
Right at Home actively encourages franchise owners to enter local and regional awards - and provides a toolkit that helps them compile strong, evidence-backed entries.
Winning accolades not only elevates their reputation and showcases their brand; it also gives a great boost to team morale - inspiring their care teams to keep up the fantastic work they do.
Here is an insight into some of the awards recently received across the network.
Right at Home Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport and the Vale
RaH Cardiff and Newport and its sister branch RaH Bridgend & Vale of Glamorgan picked up two accolades at the Welsh regional finals of the Great British Care Awards in November.
Owner Joe Guishard and his team were awarded the 'Three R’s award' for their commitment to Recruiting, Retaining and Recognising talented care professionals across South Wales.
Nicola Langdon, Registered Manager at RaH Bridgend & Vale of Glamorgan, also received personal recognition when she won the Care Assessor Award, in recognition of her excellent responsible track record in building person-centred care plans.
Nicola was praised for ensuring the personal needs and preferences of each individual Client are met.
These award wins secured Joe's teams a place in the national finals of the Great British Care Awards, which take place in March.
Joe, pictured centre right, said: “This is an absolutely fantastic achievement, especially given that the competition for the awards was incredibly high. We can’t wait for the National Awards in 2025.”
Right at Home Colchester
RaH Colchester & District was another one of our franchises to celebrate a double award win in 2024.
As a team they won the 'Empowering Workforce' category at the Essex Care Sector Awards: The Prospers in December - and CareGiver Alison Jones scooped the accolade of Outstanding Carer of the Year.
The first title recognised the franchise’s commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of eight office staff and 46 CareGivers.
RaH Colchester employs six mental health first aiders and three workplace health champions, to help recognise the signs of workplace stress and mental health issues, and offer guidance and signposting to appropriate support when needed.
They also hold a monthly menopause group to support staff experiencing emotional and physical symptoms, helping them to talk about their experiences in a safe and comfortable space.
As Outstanding Carer of the Year, Alison was praised for making a positive difference to the lives of her Clients.
Upon collecting her award, she said: “I am honoured, proud and humbled to receive this award. It’s a lovely feeling to be recognised and respected for my work as a CareGiver.
“I love my clients, and they look forward to seeing me, so I always try to go that extra mile and make every visit full of warmth and fun.”
Right at Home Loughborough
In October, Claire Moseley, Registered Manager at RaH Loughborough, was crowned Care Leader of the Year at the Care Professional Awards, an event that celebrates staff who excel in caring for residents across Leicestershire.
Since taking on the role earlier this year, she has transformed the franchise’s internal compliance rating, having worked closely with our National Office compliance team to identify gaps in the service and drive improvements.
She’s also shown incredible commitment to supporting the wellbeing of her team, resulting in a 5 Star Employer Award, an accolade based on CareGiver reviews.
Commenting on her award win, Claire said: “Winning the Care Leader of the Year Award was the proudest moment of my life. It came as a shock as I didn't think I would win, but I am overjoyed to have received it. Being recognised makes me feel valued, appreciated and motivated to achieve more.”
Claire's award then led to team recognition in Right at Home's internal Circle of Trust Awards, which are presented at our annual Managers' Conference. RaH Loughborough picked up the highest level Platinum Award, having secured all four of our key quality indicators - Five Star Employer accreditation; a Homecare.co.uk Top 20 Provider award for their region; a Good or Outstanding regulatory rating and at least one external award recognition. A fantastic all-round team performance!
Right at Home Maidenhead
RaH Maidenhead received the esteemed ‘Best Company to Work For’ Award at the 2024 Maidenhead & Windsor Business and Community Awards in November.
This recognition highlights the franchises’ dedication to fostering a nurturing, inclusive and rewarding work environment for its employees, which is essential for delivering top-quality care services.
The ceremony took place at the Castle hotel, Windsor, bringing together local businesses and organisations that have made significant contributions to the community and economy.
RaH Maidenhead Owner Scott MacRae commented: "Our team is at the heart of everything we do, and this recognition is a testament to their hard work, passion, and unwavering commitment to providing outstanding care to our clients."
The Maidenhead franchise has put in place a range of initiatives designed to support its employees in their professional and personal lives. These include flexible working arrangements, comprehensive training programs aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge, and a robust emphasis on work-life balance that empowers employees to thrive both in and out of the workplace.
Right at Home North Somerset
RaH North Somerset was thrilled to be named the Care Organisation of the Year at the Care Support West Awards on September 26.
The annual event celebrates the hard work and dedication of care professionals working across the South West of England.
RaH North Somerset was also named a finalist in the Employer of the Year category, while Registered Manager Micala Small was shortlisted for the Community Based Manager Award.
Commenting on the win, Owner Grant Attwood said: “I was so pleased to have received this award. This is absolutely fantastic news for the company and the team as a whole. It is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication that everyone has shown.”
Right at Home Twickenham and Richmond
RaH Twickenham and Richmond received the prestigious Best Franchise Award at the Spelthorne Business Awards in November.
The franchise was recognised for its outstanding commitment to the local community.
Over the last two years, RaH Twickenham and Richmond has launched the Sunflower Café, a monthly event for people living with dementia and their carers. It is also a founding member of Dementia Friendly Spelthorne, an organisation committed to creating a community where people with dementia feel included and valued.
The judging panel was particularly impressed with how the franchise went the extra mile for a Client and his wife who were struggling to manage their day-to-day life. The team responded by contacting other organisations involved in the couple’s care, ensuring a joined-up approach, and organised shopping trips and appointments, enabling them to maintain their independence.
Liz Young, Marketing & Recruitment Manager at RaH Twickenham and Richmond, said: “When we were asked for details about how we had gone above and beyond for our Clients, I had to put my thinking cap on – not because we lacked examples but because we set the bar high. So, what appears to others as going ‘above and beyond’ is all in a day’s work for us!”
