Right at Home is celebrating the two-year anniversary of its partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, having raised more than £47,000 for the charity.
The quality homecare provider chose Alzheimer’s Society as its official charity because it provides daily support to hundreds of Clients who have dementia, and recognises the many challenges they face, as the condition leads to a deterioration of their cognitive ability.
“The partnership with Alzheimer’s Society offered our franchise owners a platform to extend their support on a wider scale, to families everywhere who are living with dementia,” said Chief Operating Officer Lucy Campbell.
“As homecare providers, we are very well aware of the impact that the right support can have, and the importance of making sure that people affected by dementia can access specialist advice, emotional support and help with the challenges that arise from daily living.
“During the two years of our partnership with Alzheimer’s Society to date, we have seen a phenomenal effort from our franchise offices across England and Wales; not just to raise money through a really creative range of activities and challenges, but also to raise awareness of dementia.
“Each Right at Home office has at least one trained Dementia Champion among their team, who will deliver information sessions to a range of local businesses, groups and organisations, helping more people understand what it is like to live with dementia and how they can access support. Many also run local dementia cafes and support groups.
“As a network we are very proud of having created an army of new Dementia Friends; and we will continue taking an active role in promoting dementia-friendly communities.”
Rachel Plummer, Senior Corporate Account Executive at Alzheimer’s Society, said: “We are absolutely delighted that since the start of the partnership in 2019, Right at Home has raised over an incredible £47,000! Right at Home colleagues have come together to unite against dementia by taking on a variety of fundraisers, from Elf Days and Challenge Treks to socially distanced Memory Walks and lockdown haircuts.
“Alongside fundraising, Right at Home has created a network of hundreds of Dementia Friends, helping to raise both awareness and understanding of dementia.
“Together in partnership, Alzheimer’s Society and Right at Home are committed to supporting people with dementia to lead purposeful lives, carry on doing the things that matter to them most and to live well with dementia.
“Right at Home’s continued support of Alzheimer’s Society means together we can be there for people affected by dementia. On behalf of all at Alzheimer’s Society, thank you Right at Home!”
April also marked the launch of Right at Home’s innovative new Dementia Support Programme, which offers families a person-centred programme of care designed to help them manage the impact and progression of the symptoms of dementia.
