Recruitment Executive
Role at Right at Home – Recruitment Executive for Right at Home GF, Twickenham & Richmond and Alton & Bordon.
When did you join? – August 2021
How would you describe your role? – I look to find the right candidates for the roles we have available. To do this, I post jobs online and attend recruitment events.
I also work on staff retention. This means that if somebody feels they need to hand in their notice due to a chance in their circumstances then, where possible, I will work with them to see if we can find a way to help them stay.
What qualifications do you need for your role? – I have achieved levels 2, 3 and 4 in health and social care and level 5 in leadership and management.
What did you before you joined Right at Home? – I’ve always worked in the care field. Immediately before joining Right at Home, I worked for another care company as a coordinator and a branch manager. Before that I was the deputy manager at an independent living complex.
Why did you choose to work at Right at Home? – I like that I can be focused on one area instead of being pulled in lots of different directions. I have always been interested in the recruitment side and I did a lot in my last job. It’s rewarding to see people all the way through from their initial contact with us to the end of their probation.
What do you look for when interviewing for a caregiver? – I look for somebody who is passionate about their work and who is in it for the love of the role. I seek an eye for detail and somebody who is happy and wants to be part of a team.
They don’t necessarily need to have experience as we provide full training. Although that said, most people have done related work – for example, we’ve seen a number of ambulance drivers applying and during COVID we took on air stewards. We also see people who are seeking experience because they are thinking about taking a nursing degree.
Good caregivers are in demand, why do you recommend Right at Home? – I’ve worked for a number of companies and this one still has a family feel. It is team-oriented and has a main office so you get to know the support staff.
We offer training and there is career progression for those who are interested. For office roles, we always advertise inhouse first.
What are your interests outside work? – I’m a family person so I spend a lot of time with family and friends. I like social activities, weekends away and holidays.
I also have four dogs, two cats and a chicken to keep me busy!
