Marius
CareGiver for Team Guildford
A little bit about Marius:
Marius joined Right at Home in the autumn of 2021, and has just kept on progressing ever since; in fact, Marius has recently won CareGiver of the year at the National Right at Home Celebration Awards! He received his award for consistently showcasing Right at Home's values, and putting his clients before himself... even on his days off!
Can you share a bit about your background and what you did prior to joining Right at Home?
Before joining Right at Home, I worked as a caregiver for six years in Cornwall. During those years, I gained a lot of experience in supporting and caring for people, which helped me become more skilled and confident in my role. Before moving to the UK, I earned a nursing degree in Romania, my home country. This gave me a solid medical background and taught me a lot about patient care. I’ve been able to bring that knowledge into my caregiving work here in the UK, allowing me to provide care that’s both caring and effective.
What motivated you to pursue a career in caregiving?
My motivation to pursue a career in caregiving comes from a deep personal connection to the elderly. Growing up, my grandparents were a huge part of my life, and their influence instilled in me a strong sense of respect and care for older adults. They taught me the importance of kindness, patience, and listening, and those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life. When I decided to become a caregiver, it wasn’t just about having a job—it was about following a path where I could make a real difference in people's lives, especially for those who often need the most support. I genuinely care about the well-being of the elderly, and being able to provide them with the care and comfort they deserve is incredibly fulfilling for me.
What inspired you to join Right at Home?
What inspired me to join Right at Home was the company’s strong values and supportive environment. I was impressed by how much they genuinely care about their clients, treating them with dignity and respect, which aligned perfectly with my own beliefs and approach to caregiving. I knew this was the right place for me to continue my journey and contribute to something truly special.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me as a caregiver is both fulfilling and varied, which is something I really appreciate. I start my day by checking my schedule, then I head out to visit my clients, each of whom has different needs and routines. I love the fact that I’m out and about, driving to different homes and being part of the community, rather than being confined to one place all day.
What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I have a few passions that keep me inspired and balanced. I love music, whether it's listening to my favourite bands or discovering new artists. Music is a great way for me to recharge. I also enjoy building computers, which allows me to combine my technical skills with my creative side. There’s something very satisfying about putting together a machine from scratch and making it work perfectly.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after work?
My favourite way to unwind after work is to spend quality time with my 10 months old son , who brings immense joy to my life. I also enjoy diving into music, as it helps me relax.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which three items would you want to have with you and why?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I’d choose solar-powered batteries, a radio in order to call for help, and a knife.
