Care Coordinator - Guildford 

Vicky has been with Right at Home since 2019 and during this time, she has become a valued team member, consistently putting the team and her work before herself.

"As the care coordinator and care supervisor, I schedule the visits for the clients and carers. I liaise with clients and their families, from initial inquiry and throughout their time with us." Vicky continues to explain that she also "carries out reviews and helps to keep support plans up to date, making sure clients get the very best care from our team. I support the team on a daily basis, always on hand if they need help."

 

Can you share a bit about your background and what you did prior to joining Right at Home?

"I spent 25 years working in Early Years Education"

 

What motivated you to pursue a career in caregiving?
"My experience caring for my husband during his illness sparked my interest in caregiving."
What inspired you to join Right at Home?
"I was moving from a different area and a friend of mine, who was working for Right at Home at the time, suggested me to join the team."
What does a typical day look like for you?
"My day occasionally begins with a care call before heading into the office. From 9 to 5, I'm focused on scheduling client visits. I assist the care manager with maintaining up-to-date care plans and handling administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations. I'm also in regular contact with both clients and caregivers to confirm everyone's satisfaction."
What do you enjoy or find most rewarding about your role?
"The most rewarding aspect is seeing our clients well cared for and able to remain in the comfort of their own homes."
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement that you have experienced as a caregiver?
"There have been many memorable moments, but taking a client with dementia ice skating stands out as one of the most joyful. Seeing him enjoy it so much was truly priceless."
What’s your favourite way to unwind after work?
"I like to cook a nice meal for my family and crochet with the tv in the background or listening to an audio book."
What’s your hidden talent that (until now) most people don’t know about?
"I can still do the dance routine to Whigfields Saturday Night - its my party piece!"
What’s your favourite thing about working with your colleagues?
"We work well together as a team and offer each other strong support. If anyone is struggling, we're always there to help."
If you were stranded on a desert island, which three items would you want to have with you and why?
"A kindle full of my favourite books, my camping moonchair to snuggle into, and a fan - I am a red head and a red face clashes with my hair!!"
