Get active this September
Published: 11/09/2023
September is World Alzheimer’s month so the team at Right at Home GF is inviting people living with dementia to join them in getting active.
Exercise and physical activity can have a positive impact on the wellbeing of people with dementia and can also create valuable opportunities to socialise with others.
Right at Home host a number of activities aimed specifically at people living with dementia and their carers. There are community groups in Farnham, Bordon and Fleet. Love to Move which is a seated exercise class, Inclusive Cricket, Walk & Talk and even Singing for the Mind are all geared towards getting participants moving.
Alastair Shanks, Managing Director at Right at Home GF says: “As well as providing exercise, our classes offer other benefits such as social interaction and helping people to maintain physical capabilities, improve their balance, enjoy better mental wellbeing and a reduced risk of heart disease. We’ve also found that carers benefit from meeting other carers who are in a similar situation to themselves.”
Full details about the classes including when and where they take place can be found under the What’s on section of Right at Home’s website at www.rightathomegf.co.uk.
