Apprenticeships are an exciting option for staff at Right at Home GF who want to upskill and further their careers.
The local home care provider has always supported staff with further study and has recently extended its apprenticeship scheme.
National Apprenticeship Week takes place from 8 to 14 February and is a national celebration showcasing how apprenticeships benefit both employers and employees.
Natasha Shead has been a CareGiver at Right at Home since October. While at school, she gained a Level 2 in health and social care and is now in the process of being enrolled for the next level. She says: “After leaving school I went to college and studied animal care. I spent five years working in kennels followed by some time in the hospitality sector.
“I wanted a job where I would feel valued and that I was doing something useful which is why I decided to apply for a role at Right at Home. Although I am still a relatively new CareGiver, I am enjoying it far more than I expected. The job is really rewarding – I’m learning new skills and I have grown in confidence. As an apprentice I will gain real life experience and a qualification which will help me to find my next new challenge.”
Apprenticeships combine work with studying for a formal qualification. Right at Home GF is currently supporting nine people to gain new skills through paid work experience and to follow an approved study programme.

By studying for a recognised qualification, we can be confident that our apprentices are learning and achieving to the high level we require. The Apprenticeship scheme has been very successful in helping us to develop our staff so we can offer an outstanding service to our clients.”
