Local home care provider, Right at Home GF has declared its annual fundraising concert for people living with dementia as the best one yet.
Musical Memories was held at Farnham Maltings and featured an afternoon of live music by In Accord, an acapella ladies’ group.
Alastair Shanks, Managing Director at Right at Home GF says: “We had a magical afternoon and were delighted so many people living with dementia were able to join us.
“A particular highlight of the afternoon was when In Accord was joined on stage by special guests from our Bordon Singing for the Mind group. Since September, members of the group have been practising the song ‘What a Wonderful World’. Saturday was the first time they had ever sung with In Accord or publicly - it was a really special moment.”
The concert helped to raise money for Right at Home’s Community groups in Farnham, Guildford, Bordon, Fleet and Twickenham which include Inclusive Cricket, Singing for the Mind, Love2Move and the Sunflower dementia cafes.
Alastair Shanks adds: “As well as raising funds to facilitate the running of our community groups, the concert gave people with dementia and their families the chance to enjoy an afternoon out in a safe environment. I would like to thank Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care for their support and the Society of Later Life Advisors and Bourne Wood Manor for sponsoring the event.”
