The English cricket season is underway so Right at Home GF is inviting people of all abilities to join them for a game of Inclusive Cricket.

Inclusive Cricket is for anyone over the age of 50 regardless of any physical or mental disability or cricketing experience. It takes place every Friday at Farnham Leisure Centre from 12.30-1.30pm.

Hayley Thaysen from Right at Home leads the group and says: “Our aim is to create a space where everyone feels welcome, and the joy of sport can be enjoyed by all. Inclusive Cricket is so much more than a game; it’s an opportunity to get active, make new friends and enjoy the spirit of cricket in a supportive environment.

“Fear of the unknown can prevent people from trying something new, but I promise that anybody who comes to Inclusive Cricket will receive a very warm welcome.”

The way Inclusive Cricket works is that players are issued with a numbered vest and assigned to an area of the pitch where they remain for approximately eight bowls. In each game there is a bowler, batter and four fielders. The ball is bowled to the batter, and once the ball is struck the batter remains where they are whilst the fielders move to get the ball, the ball is then returned to the bowler for the next bowl. After eight bowls everyone changes position so that all players have a chance to bat, bowl and field.

It costs £5 to take part in Inclusive Cricket and is free of charge for accompanying carers. Halfway through the game, attendees are provided with a cold drink, biscuits and an opportunity to chat before continuing the game.

Booking is not required. For more information call 01252 78342, email hello@rightathomegf.co.uk or visit www.rightathome.co.uk/guildford-and-farnham.
