Singing for the Brain at Farnham Maltings received a visit from Kathryn Tyson, Director of International Health and Public Health Strategy at the Department of Health, earlier this month. She was spending the day with Right at Home, understanding the challenges we face as a home care provider in providing quality home care in and around Farnham.
She began the day by accompanying one of the Right at Home CareGivers on a home visit and then joined other carers and people living with dementia at Singing for the Brain. She had a good chat with Right at Home MD Alastair Shanks, discussing the virtues of longer visit times, dedicated CareGivers and structured care plans and the challenges that providing these ideals presents.
“It was good to share best practice and discuss the issues that we face,” commented Alastair, “and I think we both learnt something during the time she spent with us.”
Kathryn Tyson and Alastair Shanks are working together as part of Waverley Systems Leadership on Quality Care.
