MP Damian Hinds welcomes Right at Home to new Bordon offices
Published: 29/01/2020
Local MP, Damian Hinds attended the official opening of our brand new office in Bordon. Mr Hinds welcomed the arrival of Right at Home in Bordon, saying: “As a growing business in a sector that continues to see increasing demand due to our ageing population, it is good to see Right at Home choose Bordon for its new office, providing an important service to local residents and employment opportunities for the growing town.”
Right at Home provides care in people’s homes as an alternative to residential care, enabling people to live independently for longer and enhancing their quality of life. It covers the Surrey and Hampshire borders and has chosen Bordon as the location for its first satellite office, though it expects to open more in future. Initially, a team of four caregivers will be based at the office, with the number set to reach 20 by the end of 2020.
“Right at Home GF does much to help caregiving get the recognition it deserves as a worthwhile career choice. It’s an important, rewarding job which has a huge impact on the quality of life for its clients and their families,” says Mr Hinds. “The company works hard to attract new people into caregiving – as well as the support and management roles that go alongside – at a time where there is great demand for them. It offers a career path and training opportunities, provides support and a friendly working atmosphere.”
Alastair Shanks, the Managing Director of Right at Home GF, explains why the company chose Bordon for its first satellite office: “Our new office is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide care in the local area of Alton, Bordon and Hindhead, so we will be well placed to reach our clients. Having this new office means we can bring our services closer to clients – most of whom are elderly people wishing to live independently at home. It’s key to the level of care we provide that we work in the communities where our clients live, shop and socialise. They and their families can drop into our offices and get to know us (find us at the Upper Bungalow on Kildare Road) – that’s really important.
“It’s important for our staff, too. Bordon is a vibrant up and coming town and we are a modern, flexible employer offering part-time and full-time work. We will need lots of empathetic, caring people to keep up with demand for our services out in the community plus office-based staff too. All our staff benefit from the same level of opportunities to progress professionally, so we have much to offer the Whitehill & Bordon community.”
Right at Home prides itself on its investment in staff and how this benefits both employees and clients. One of its newest employees was recently crowned Care Newcomer of the Year in the prestigious Surrey Care Awards.
As well as providing care in people’s homes, Right at Home runs activities and groups in the communities it serves. Cafe 1759 at Chieftain House is the location for Right at Home GF’s monthly Sunflower Cafe. The Sunflower Cafe offers an opportunity for people affected by dementia and their families to meet up for a relaxed chat and to get advice over coffee and cake in exchange for a small voluntary donation. Sunflower Cafe is open on the fourth Thursday of every month from 10.30am to 12pm.
