Top Award for Care Newcomer

One of Right at Home GF’s newest members of staff, Karen Pritchard, has been named Care Newcomer of the Year in the prestigious Surrey Care Awards held on 22 November.

“I’m absolutely stunned to be named the winner but thoroughly proud too,” says Karen. “The real rewards in my job come from my clients and the kind ‘thank yous’ from their families but to have my work recognised so publicly is absolutely amazing.”

She adds, “Caregiving is such an important and fulfilling job but it can be tough, so this feels like a reward for all my Right at Home colleagues too.”

Karen, a former PA, received her award at a black-tie reception held at Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Right at Home GF provides care in people’s homes from weekly shopping trips to full-time live in care. The company also specialises in dementia care. Its team of high quality, committed caregivers cover Guildford, Farnham, Fleet, Bordon and Alton.

Karen was nominated by her boss, Alastair Shanks, Managing Director at Right at Home GF, for her empathy, professionalism and cheerful approach to her clients. “I’m so pleased for Karen. She has made a huge impression with our clients, their families and with the rest of our team in the year she has been with us. Karen absolutely embodies the service and the values that Right at Home GF promotes – which is no doubt why we receive so much positive feedback from clients about her. At Right at Home, we know how important it is to have the right people in our caregiving jobs and to properly support them. The Surrey Care Awards endorse that approach, as Karen’s award shows.”

The Surrey Care Awards is run by the Surrey Care Association, an organisation which supports care providers in Surrey. The awards raise the profile of the caring industry and the people in it by celebrating the exceptional contributions made by the individuals and teams in Surrey’s care workforce.
