Helping Our Community Stay Connected: Knaresborough Digital Inclusion Programme
Published: 06/12/2024
At Right at Home Harrogate, we’re passionate about supporting our local community. That’s why we were proud to join Knaresborough Connectors and Barchester Healthcare in launching the Knaresborough Digital Inclusion Programme at Gracious Street Methodist Church.
This initiative is designed to help those who find technology challenging. Many people feel overwhelmed by the digital world—whether it’s staying safe online, accessing the internet, shopping, paying bills, or connecting with loved ones.
The launch event welcomed attendees with a friendly atmosphere, a cup of tea, and expert advice. Our team, alongside volunteers from Knaresborough Connectors, Gracious Street Methodist Church, and Barchester Healthcare, worked one-on-one with visitors to address their digital challenges.
Since opening in May, we’ve seen how technology can be a barrier for some of our Clients. Managing Director Veronica Manolache shared:
“We’ve found that many of our Clients struggle with the digital world. For those living far from family, being able to connect through video calls, manage online banking, or book GP appointments independently is so important for their confidence and quality of life. We’re honoured to be part of this programme to help make these everyday tasks easier.”
The day ended on a high note with a live singer performing classic songs, bringing smiles all-around.
Looking ahead, the Digital Inclusion Programme will continue with regular drop-in sessions. For those unable to attend in person, a Digital Inclusion Bus will visit local areas to offer support.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this initiative, we encourage you to get in touch with us at Right at Home Harrogate or contact Knaresborough Connectors. Alternatively, if you or a loved one may benefit from our homecare services to maintain independence and enjoy a better quality of life, get in touch -- we'd be more than happy to discuss anything you need.
We’re proud to help bridge the digital divide in our community, ensuring that everyone has the tools and confidence to stay connected in today’s digital world.
