The NHS Spitfire Project
Published: 27/03/2019
A former second world war aircraft has been flying through the sky across the UK this month to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NHS. On the wings of the aircraft it reads ‘THANK U NHS,’ a message that is important to share now more than ever. The Spitfire, which is owned by a family run Aircraft Restoration Company was originally flown in their local village during the Thursday ‘Clap for Carers’ evenings to lift the community spirit. After incredible support and gratitude with the first flight, the aircraft has now flown over many more communities and will continue to do so until 20th September.
People have been given the opportunity to nominate the name of someone to be written on the plane with a donation to NHS Charities Together. A kind neighbour, family member on the front line, volunteer PPE producer, or anyone who has helped or inspired through the Covid-19 Pandemic. We are so proud to announce that two of our Carers – Anitha Uthayakumar and Julie Brown – have been nominated by our clients’ family for the amazing care they have provided to their mothers. “Anitha and Julie, for all the care and kindness for our mothers, particularly during lock-down and with thanks to all the team at Right at Home Harrow.”
The aircraft recently flew over the family’s local village with Anitha and Julie written on the wings. Thank you to Anitha, Julie and all of our wonderful Carers for all the of hard work and commitment they have given to our clients and continue to do so.
