Advancements in Dementia Diagnosis and Care: What It Means for Our Clients
Published: 13/12/2024
Exciting progress is being made in dementia research, including a groundbreaking laser-based test developed by researchers at the University of Southampton. This test uses a single drop of blood to generate a “biochemical fingerprint,” allowing early detection of dementia types, including Alzheimer’s disease, with up to 93% accuracy. Early diagnosis can provide Clients with access to effective treatments sooner, potentially delaying disease progression and enabling them to maintain a better quality of life for longer.
In addition to diagnostic advancements, a promising new drug, RI-AG03, has shown potential in targeting Tau proteins that cause damage to nerve cells in the brain. By preventing harmful build-ups of these proteins, this treatment may slow or halt the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
At Right at Home Havant, we are inspired by these advancements and are always exploring how we can incorporate emerging knowledge and practices into our care services.
