Right at Home Ipswich is Fundraising for the Macular Society.  Nearly 1.5m people in the UK have macular disease and it affects people of all ages.  Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common condition, generally affecting people over the age of 55.  AMD is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, affecting more than 600,000 people

Right at Home Ipswich supports a number of clients living with macular degeneration and we see the challenges faced by people with visual impairment living in their own homes.

To raise money for the amazing Macular Society, we are taking part in the “Step Around the World (from home) challenge” collectively walking/running/stepping/cycling 874 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats by the end of 2021!

Our team – is made up of our Caregivers, office colleagues, some of those we support in their own homes, and their family members!  Some of our clients were born in the 1930s and have had ‘sporty’ backgrounds – we are proud of their commitment to this challenge!

It has been a tough time for health and social care workers, and for those in their homes who have been more isolated during the pandemic, so we are especially looking forward to this challenge which brings our team together to raise money for this cause.
