Fundraising for the Alzheimer's Society

A night of music followed by a 26 mile walk

Published: 15/08/2023

26 miles covered in 8hrs 23mins. Nearly 50,000 steps, ascended and descended 2,490 metres in hills (equivalent to 281 flights of stairs) and burnt 6,874 calories

The Trek26 Challenge raised over £340,000 raised on Saturday 12th August with a 26 mile walk in the Peak District.
With a swollen stiff knee and feeling the pain, Paul says "it was worth every step! The Peak District is a beautiful place."

The first part of the fundraiser was a night of live music from two bands- a vocal and saxophone duo "A Touch of Class", they warmed up the crowd and got everyone moving. Once in full swing a local ska/reggae band "The Ohmz" played out the rest of the night.

The night was a great success with a good turn-out, they kept the bar particularly busy too!

The sale of tickets were used to fundraise for the Alzheimer's Society.

On Saturday 12th August Paul completed the Trek26 walk in the Peak District.

The varying terrain proved to be a challenge, the 26 mile walk along was accompanied by wind and rain, but Paul kept on going even with a painful knee and blisters setting in.

He set off at 6:10am in the morning at Bakewell and completed the walk at 2:33pm, the circular route took him back to Bakewell, greeted by a well deserved prosecco.

Paul said "I thoroughly enjoy it, it was a tough day... Vicky's turn next!"
