Rachel Critchley
Hi, my name is Rachel Critchley and I’m the Director of Right at Home Leeds North, Otley, and Horsforth. I’m delighted to have been awarded the opportunity to serve my local Leeds community, where I have lived for nearly 20 happy years with my husband, Sam and two children, Ella (8) and Jack (3).
For many years I was the Director of Molly Maid (Leeds North and Wetherby), so may be a familiar face to many residents in the North Leeds area. I have also volunteered in Horsforth and Guiseley and spent some time as the Director of EweMove Sales and Lettings.
Since having two children, I have baked cakes for the people of Leeds North and even set up multiple websites. I also hold a BSc Food Science degree, which is what bought me to Leeds. In fact, this is where I began my professional life, more than 20 years ago, during which time I worked my way up to become a Technical Manager in the food industry.
At the age of 31, I decided that as a people person, I wanted to do something more meaningful. Running my own business had always been a desire of mine and this led me to Molly Maid. The food industry was exciting, but it involved a lot of overseas travel, not to mention the potential implications that working in Research and Development, tasting food for several hours a day, would have on my long-term health.
Fast forward to 2022, two children later, a marriage, dog and three house moves within North Leeds and the time was right to embark on a new venture.
I knew that I wanted to remain in franchising, following a proven model and having the support of like-minded business owners. I needed a business whereby I could make a positive difference to the lives of others once more (both Clients, their family, and our team members) easing their daily pressures and brightening their day. A business which really cared about its CareGivers and would improve people’s quality of life, rather than simply maintaining it. One, where I could go home, knowing that I had done some good, every day – you just can’t beat that feeling!
After many months of researching the care industry and a tough selection process, it was obvious that Right at Home was head and shoulders above the other domiciliary providers. Their ethos and values are closely aligned with my own and that of Molly Maid. It was evident from the very beginning, and it always has been, that they genuinely care about their customers, teams, and franchisees. There was no question that Right at Home was the business for me!
My mission is to provide outstanding trusted, quality homecare, changing the lives of not only each individual Client but their families and their CareGivers too. Knowing that each day I go to work, I am making a real difference to others.
I truly believe that our CareGivers and our Clients are at the heart of everything we do. It is important that my team feel appreciated, valued, well trained and happy so they can be their very best and provide a quality, personal homecare service.
For our homecare service, there will be no short 15-minute calls (one hour will be the norm), no minimum wage, no unrealistic scheduling, and the real chance of career development for our valued carers. My aim is to exceed the expectations of others, by going the extra mile and going above and beyond, so that only our best will ever do!
I am passionate about providing people with choice, respecting their dignity and preferences, and enhancing their wellbeing by offering a holistic person-centred approach to care. This means support is centred around our Clients and their unique needs, goals and preferences. If care is specifically tailored to them, then their whole needs and not just their physical needs can be met.
I understand that it can be overwhelming to decide on the best thing to do when a loved one needs help. We all want the best for our families. So, if you are wanting more advice, a friendly chat or support then please do get in touch, anytime.
