Virtual Experience Dementia Bus Coming to Horsforth!

A unique highlight of the day is the Virtual Experience Dementia Bus.  This will be taking members of the public on board, from 10:30am until 4:30pm.  We feel so privileged to have secured the bus in Horsforth, specially for 23rd May - the bus will be parked outside the front of Lister Hill Baptist Church during these times.  We highly recommend you immerse yourself in this, not to be missed experience, which has been medically proven to provide a glimpse into the daily challenges faced by those living with dementia. Step on board to gain a deeper understanding and foster empathy for the realities of this condition.  This short experience is suitable for anyone with or without a connection to dementia.  However, we do not advise those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s to attend.  There will be volunteers on the day to sit with your loved one, if you require us to.

Dementia Friends Information Sessions

Throughout the day, Dementia Friends information sessions will be available, bought to you by Chris and Phil from Dementia Friendly Horsforth. These sessions aim to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools to become Dementia Friends, fostering a dementia-friendly community in Horsforth and beyond.  Learn more about the bookcase analogy on the day!

Activities for All

We have carefully curated a range of activities that we are sure will cater to different interests and abilities. Whether it's a sing-a-long, music, interactive games, or seated exercise - there really is something for everyone. The goal is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where attendees can engage and connect.

You are welcome to spend the whole day with us!

"We are delighted that Right at Home has, to date, raised more than £66,822 for The Alzheimer's Society, our charity partner. Thank you to everyone across the country who has donated to this very worthy cause. It is so hard to put into words our gratitude. Thank you from the bottom of our heart."

Supporting a Worthy Cause – Dementia Friendly Horsforth

While entry is FREE, the event serves a greater purpose by raising funds for dementia. Please consider donating to this very worthy cause which is close to many of our hearts.  Contributions will go towards the cost of the event as well as initiatives that enhance the lives of those affected by dementia.  Dementia Friendly Horsforth are working to make Leeds a more dementia-friendly society, by raising awareness through information sessions and other initiatives.  This is a not-for-profit event and we would like to thank the councillors of the outer north west community committee for their generous funding which has gone towards some of the costs for the hire of the bus and trainer.

The Horsforth Community United

Happening in the wake of Dementia Action Week, this event epitomizes the spirit of collective action and community support. It's an opportunity for Horsforth to come together, to learn, empathise, and make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by dementia.

Mark your calendars for May 23rd, 2024, and join Right at Home Leeds North, Otley, and Horsforth, along with Dementia Friendly Horsforth, in this inspiring endeavour. Together, let's create a more informed, compassionate, and supportive community for everyone.  Let’s raise awareness and support all.
