Published: 21/04/2024

Come Join Us at The Living Well Showcase with The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus in Horsforth This Week!

Join us on Thursday May 23 2024 at 10:30 AM at Lister Hill Baptist Church for a unique experience.

Explore the 30 stalls, partake in activities and training and enjoy refreshments, entertainment and more!

Step aboard the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus to gain a better understanding of what it's like to live with dementia and how we can all adapt our behaviour and environments to help others.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn, connect, and support our North Leeds community!  Everybody is welcome.

Follow us on Facebook for more updates and photos from the day.

Whilst perusing the information stalls and signposting, why not have your loved one enjoy some dementia friendly activities in the side hall, across from the main room at Lister Hill.  From planting, musical bingo, sing-along and art, to chair based exercise with Judith from AVSED - we have you covered!  Indulge in some refreshments and a trip down memory lane with reminiscence games and accessories from the past!

Throughout the day in the top room at Lister Hill, partake in Dementia Friends Training with Chris and Phil, so that you too can become more dementia friendly.

Listen to Carol and Tracy as they discuss Carol's lived experience with her husband John, who developed young onset dementia and her mother-in-law during her years of dementia.

Be enlightened with Elizabeth from Leeds Older People's Forum as she provides a compelling talk about ageism.

In the main room enjoy visiting the many stalls, taking the opportunity to ask plenty of questions.  Be directed to organisations that can assist, including our home care company, Right at Home, based in Horsforth, but covering all of North Leeds and Otley.

Outside, visit the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus for a memorable experience which will change how you behave around those living with dementia.  Be one of the 200,000 per year who step onboard!  Read more about the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus in the Yorkshire Evening Post here.

This event is free to attend, but donations to charity are very welcome.

Please take a look at the agenda below, to ensure you don't miss out on any vital timings.  Please note that the stalls will be available from 10.30am, when the event opens until 2pm only.
