Caregiver of the Month for February – Tracie Mamode
Published: 03/03/2016
Congratulations to Tracie our Great Caregiver for February, she has made a real difference to peoples lives in the community.
She has gone the extra mile, been flexible and accommodating and had a number of compliments on the care she has given and the relationships she has built with her clients.
She has received a massage voucher from Sally at the Amber Zone in Maidenhead to help ease those aching muscles after a hard days care.
Tracie has answered a few questions about herself and working for Right At Home
Tell me a little about yourself?
My name is Tracie Mamode. I’m married and have 6 children.
What were your first impressions of Right at Home?
I was extremely impressed when I joined Right at Home. Everyone was very helpful and made me feel part of the team.
Did you you have any previous experience in care before you joined?
The only experience was occasionally looking after my nan.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time when you are not caring?
I don’t get a lot of spare time but when I do I spend it with my husband and children. I also like meeting up with friends, reading and going shopping.
What has surprised you most about working at Right at Home?
The help and being made to feel part of a team and actually wanting to come to a job that I really enjoy.
What is the most challenging thing about being a carer?
Gaining the clients trust and making them feel comfortable with me in their home, especially when it’s personal care I have to do.
What do you enjoy most about working at Right at Home?
Knowing I’ve made a difference to our clients day. Whether it’s getting them ready for the day or making their lunch and just having a chat. Working for right at home is extremely rewarding.
What did you do before joining Right at Home?
I worked at a school as a learning support assistant. Even though working with children was rewarding I do prefer the job I’m doing now.
What might we be surprised to know about you?
I find it very hard talking to people. But since joining right at home my confidence has really improved.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining the team?
Right at Home is a lovely company to work for. You are made to feel welcome and part of the team from day one. The door is always open and they never make you feel pressurised into doing something you don’t feel comfortable in doing.
How do you think clients would describe you?
Cheerful, patient, helpful and caring.
Tell me how you first got involved with Right at Home?
My mum kept telling me I would be good as a carer. My job at the school was coming to a end and I saw a advert on Facebook for a caregiver. I filled out my details and a day later I got a call from Scott asking me to come into the office for a chat. I spoke to Alyson the manager who explained all the ins and outs of the job. I was so impressed and was really pleased when I was offered the job.
