Right at Home is supporting the establishment of a new Singing for the Mind group at St Oswald’s Church Norbury.  The group will meet every week during school term times.

Music and singing can help unlock memories and kickstart the grey matter.  It is generally regarded as a key feature of dementia care. It seems to reach parts of the damaged brain in ways other forms of communication cannot.

The group will be similar to groups run by the Alzheimer’s Society – see video here.

We use singing to bring people together in a friendly and stimulating social environment.

Everyone is welcome, including those who have never sung before.  Join in the fun singing some of your favourite songs.  Expect love, laughter and even a few tears but above all, join us for a life-enhancing experience.  Apart from fun and laughter, singing taps into well preserved memories – for people with dementia and their carers.

First meeting of the group is 29th April 2019.
