Kathren Ainscough - Deputy Manager

  • Why did you start working in care?

I started to work in care because I wanted to help people, during the first few years I learned a lot, I saw good care and not good care. I wanted to learn more then I could put into practice good care.

My sister has a daughter who is physically disabled, she is completely reliant on the care she receives. I have seen what a family goes through regarding the care of a loved one, what barriers they must break through to get the care in place, also to get the right person for the job. Families put a lot of trust into there caregivers and sometimes they have hit breaking point before they ask for help.

  • Where are you from?

Golborne

  • What did you want to be when you were younger?

I wanted to be a hairdresser.

  • If you could choose any super-power what would it be and why?

To make people free from pain and illness.

  • What do you do to unwind after a long day?

To relax I just sit down and watch the tv or listen to music

  • What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to get into care?

I would advise to do some research into the type of care industry they would like to go into. Also to give time and persevere, its hard work and there is a lot of responsibility. Always use equipment as you have been trained and follow the company policies and procedure, as they are there to protect you.
