Theresa May MP praises work of CareGivers for supporting isolated and vulnerable people in their own homes
The Prime Minister spoke of her admiration for the work of community care teams as she attended the official opening of a new business in her constituency.
Mrs May chatted to several Right at Home CareGivers, along with business owner Kevin Lancaster and manager Bailey Harrison, at the opening of Right at Home’s 50th UK office in Twyford, and the second in her Constituency.
Right at Home, which also provides quality homecare services across Maidenhead, Slough, Windsor, Reading, Wokingham District, and surrounding communities, is looking to recruit a further 100 CareGivers across Berkshire over the next twelve months.
During her visit Mrs May spoke with the homecare experts about the difference that appropriately timed visits can have to a Client’s mental well-being and overall quality of life.
The Right at Home team talked about how their experiences of care in previous personal and professional circumstances had led them to seek a different solution, which put the needs and choices of vulnerable people first.
The Twyford team, which started supporting Clients across Wokingham District and nearby Reading in January, is the 50th branch in the growing Right at Home UK network and has quickly established a reputation for helping clients to get the most out of life.
The Prime Minister also met Right at Home UK CEO Ken Deary and Maidenhead office owner Scott MacRae, whose business was named one of the top 10 providers out of 1306 businesses in the South East of England by homecare.co.uk.
Prime Minister Theresa May said:
“It was heart-warming to hear how passionate Right at Home’s CareGivers are about the difference they make to people’s lives.
“By being that regular visitor and building that friendly, trusting relationship with local people living safely in their own homes, they are providing them with as much independence as possible. It was wonderful to see just how much satisfaction CareGivers get from helping others.”
“Being a carer no doubt has its challenges, but the training and support provided by Kevin and his team to enable CareGivers to help some of the most vulnerable people in our society is something that should be commended.”
Commenting on the PM’s visit Kevin Lancaster, who set up the business in Twyford said;
“We were delighted to welcome Mrs May to our offices and were grateful that she took the time to speak with our fantastic CareGivers, who deserve huge recognition for the dedication they show to their Clients’ well-being.
“Setting up a new business is a challenging but very exciting time and it’s great to know that we have the support of our local MP, as well as that of our neighbouring Right at Home offices and national team.”
Ken Deary, CEO of Right at Home UK added;
“Right at Home UK is dedicated to delivering services that our Clients and their families across the UK can trust. We are keen to work with Government to support the challenges faced in the wider social care sector.”
