Right at Home attended the  Southport & Ormskirk Hospital Older Person’s Day event earlier today (Thursday 5th October) and we were extremely impressed by what we saw!

The event was held in the Clinical Education Centre at Southport Hospital, with representatives from across the hospital and other organisations on hand to provide advice and information.

Physiotherapy, Rheumatology and frailty are just some of the hospital services that were on hand throughout the day. They were supported by representatives from organisations such as Macmillan, the Stroke Association, the Alzheimer’s Society, Parkinsons.org.uk, Wiltshire Farmfoods to name but a few, all there to provide information about dementia, orthopaedics, mental health, good nutrition and many other topics.

We also spent some time understanding the great work that Sefton Pensioners Advocacy Service (SPAC) do for the over 60’s in Sefton. The team are an invaluable source of support to those needing assistance or support to exercise their rights, choices and interests. The group run regular meetings (called the Sefton Older Persons’s Forums) in areas we cover such as Maghull, Bootle, Crosby, Formby and Southport. Forum members are supported with up to date presentations on Health and Social Care issues and other relevant subjects. If you or a family member is over 60 and needs more information on any of the below topics, the SPAC offer free impartial advice. alternatively, we will always help signpost to areas of support so call us on 01704443344.
