My name is Alison, I am the Office Manager and have been with Right at Home Solent since October 2016.

Before joining Right at Home Solent, I had worked around my twin daughters, working for Social Services and a GP Surgery, but when they became less dependent on me, it was time for me to find ‘my forever’ job. What an incredible journey I have had in the last 5 years!

I started as the office administrator, then 18 months later I was promoted to Office Manager. Soon after this I became the Basic Life Support Trainer and the Mental Health First Aider too.

The Mental Health side has been so important to our caregivers, especially during COVID lockdown. On a regular basis I meet with them, go for walks with them, take them for coffee or just chat with them on the phone. Our caregivers are our hero’s, always going over and beyond for their clients, so it is very important that they have someone that is there for them.

As well as looking after the office, making sure everything is running smoothly, efficiently and professionally, I am also very much involved in helping in the community, supporting and promoting Right at Home Solent. I attend dementia festivals, take part in charity events and organise coffee and cake meetings for our amazing clients.

No two days are the same, but I wouldn’t want it any other way, knowing that I am making a difference to someone everyday makes me know that I have found ‘MY FOREVER JOB’.
