Advice to the Younger Generations | Right at Home Solent
This is Bill, he is 91 years of age. Bill is one of one of Right at Home Solent's longest-standing clients in Fareham, Gosport, Southampton and New Forest. Bill is much loved by all of the office staff and his lovely Care Assistants from the Right at Home Solent team.
A few weeks ago, we visited Bill and asked him for one bit of advice that he would give to the younger generations; this is what he said; "Always have a sense of humour. Have fun with everything!". Bill believes that life is too short not to have fun, and he is right!
Bill's outlook on life is so inspiring. One thing that we see all the time, particularly amongst the younger generations, is this irrational fear of growing old; but why is this? Why do so many people feel so adverse towards this 'phenomenon' of aging?
We also see older generations looking back and regretting things they've done/haven't done and what important lessons they've learnt on this journey through life. Everyday (at all ages), we are still learning yet also reflecting on the important lessons we've already learnt; sometimes without even realising. As a young person writing this, I think there's something reassuring and comforting about getting advice from someone of Bill's age. Any elderly person you ask, will say that life is too short - and that is so true! So in the words of Bill from Right at Home Solent; always have fun, always smile and always enjoy life!
