Homecare Services at Mela Festival Southampton
On Saturday the 13th July we held a stall at Southampton Mela Festival in Hoglands Park.
"Running for two decades, the Southampton Mela Festival now attracts around 30,000 people per year from along the South coast to enjoy a fusion of music, dance and family activities, all of an international flavour from world-class artists. The festival is the largest free festival in the region, attracting international artists to its three stages, hosting arts, craft, music and dance workshops, and providing delicious world food stalls."
Raising Awareness of Homecare in Asian Communities
Our Directors, Amy and Kev, Marketing Assistant, Lucy, and CareGivers Penny and Crystal helped raise awareness of Right at Home Solent, as well as Homecare in general at the Festival, and promoted our Memory Cafe, Chai & Chat - in collaboration with Caraway and the Vedic Society Temple. Chai & Chat aims to break the taboo of health matters in the Asian Community.
This event provided a fantastic opportunity for our team to engage with the local community, offering valuable insights and information about the services we provide. Our presence at the Festival also highlighted the importance of fostering conversations around elder care and well-being, particularly within diverse cultural contexts.
Through engaging discussions, we were able to emphasise the significance of support networks and community involvement in ensuring a higher quality of life for those we care for. Moreover, our collaboration with Caraway and the Vedic Society Temple to provide the memory cafe Chai & Chat showcases our commitment to inclusivity and our effort to bridge cultural gaps in healthcare.
Chai & Chat is not just about providing information; it’s about creating a safe space for open dialogue and mutual understanding. By addressing common health issues and concerns, we aim to empower individuals to take proactive steps towards their health and well-being. We believe that breaking down barriers and encouraging conversations are essential in fostering a supportive community environment.
