Right at Home Solent's Focus Groups

Right at Home Solent hold focus groups for their CareGivers to promote wellbeing and training

What is a Right at Home Focus Group?

At Right at Home Solent, we value our incredible CareGivers who provide HomeCare for adults in Southampton, Fareham, Gosport, and the New Forest areas. One of the things we do to support them is holding regular focus groups.

These focus groups allow CareGivers to come into our Fareham office and receive updates or training, such as the 'switch to P.I.T.C.H' - our new Mobizio made just for Right at Home. Focus groups allow our CareGivers to meet new people, fellow carers, and office staff.

One CareGiver described their relationship with other Carers as "passing ships" and was grateful for the focus groups as a means of socialising.

What happens at a Right at Home Focus Group?

With the Right at Home Solent focus groups, not only do we provide the latest updates and training, but we also set the CareGivers a challenge. After we have informed the CareGivers of the latest news and finished training, it's time for a bit of fun!

Our Care Coordinator, Mark organised a scavenger hunt for the CareGivers, which entailed various objects and clues around the Fareham office, car park and Fareham Highstreet; we even presented the winners with an award.

What is the Point of a Right at Home Solent Focus Group?

On top of the training, socialising and team-building exercises we conduct at our focus groups, they also allow us to check in on our CareGiver's well-being. It gives them a chance to feedback, positive and negative, talk to our office staff for specific needs and boosts morale. We celebrate anniversaries for CareGivers who have had a milestone so they can receive their badge for their lanyard, and it gave me a chance to talk to some of our wonderful CareGivers about their experiences with Right at Home Solent so far.

"'The work I do is really appreciated here and I feel recognised, not that I do it to get a pat on the back but when it is noticed it's lovely and means a lot'"

What Else Makes Right at Home Solent Different?

Right at Home Solent believe in providing outstanding 'person-centric' care. We deliver a minimum of one-hour calls to our Clients to ensure the Care and Companionship necessary for that person is given to the best of our ability, with no stress or rushing. It also lets the CareGiver and Client build a relationship of trust and understanding; we try our best to match CareGivers and Clients based on their personalities by using a one-page profile. Unfortunately, this isn't always possible, but having a minimum of an hour together and having an introduction call beforehand allows more of a rapport.

In the office, we have a Mental First Aider - Ali, our Office Manager - and everyone across the Fareham and Southampton offices calls our CareGivers for regular check-ins to ask how they are and maintain that connection. Owner and director Amy Patel Popat won Woman Franchisee of the Year 2023, recognising her outstanding achievements in promoting workplace diversity and cultivating a welcoming and secure working environment for her team and Clients. Mental health and well-being are something we consider in everything we do at Right at Home Solent, and that translates into the Outstanding Care we can provide our Clients.
