Right at Home Solent are Recruiting Part-Time and Full-Time Care Assistants
Finding the right part-time job as a student can be tricky; balancing your studies and maintaining a social life is hard enough. You could probably do with some extra cash, so why not utilise the benefits by working as a Health Care Assistant?
- Flexible Hours
- Great Rates of Pay
- Experience that can benefit your career
If you've never considered a career in Care before, why not get a head start and complement your studies as a part-time Care Assistant with Right at Home Solent?
Choose Hours to Fit Around Your Timetable
We offer full-time and part-time hours, from as little as four hours a week, so you can work as much or as little as you choose. This flexibility allows you to fit your hours around lectures, studying, other university commitments and socialising.
Due to the nature of Care, shifts are available all hours of the day; evenings, weekends, mornings, and bank holidays, leaving your days free to prioritise your studies.
Even if you're not looking for a job within the Health Sector, becoming a Care Assistant can help you develop a number of transferable skills. An important skill to have while at university is organisation and planning ahead; looking at your schedule a month in advance and dedicating specific time to study and work will allow a good work-life balance and prevent burnout. In the lead-up to exams and deadlines, or if you are travelling home for Christmas, Easter, Eid or anything else, you can pause work to focus on other things; and pick it back up when you have more capacity.
Great Perks
At Right at Home Solent, we're committed to paying above-average hourly pay. If you want to find out how much you could earn as a Carer alongside your studies, use our Salary Calculator. We also offer a competitive fuel allowance of 35p a mile.
We know it's not always about the money. Team culture is often a deciding factor in choosing a job. Our CareGivers benefit from regular get-togethers and a family-feel environment. We have been rated a 5-Star Employer by WorkBuzz, Outstanding by CQC, and at Right at Home Solent, we have a trained Mental Health First Aider in the office - our lovely Office Manager Ali.
We offer some brilliant employee benefits, including a generous friend referral scheme (you don't have to be employed by us to refer someone!), one-to-one support, no uniform policy, high street discounts, training and more.
Career Progression
Most people aren't aware of the career progression opportunities available in Social Care. After graduating from university, many students continue their careers in Social Care and build on the experience they have gained.
A CareGiver can train in specific areas of Care or progress to senior and management roles; some develop into office roles such as marketing, administration and recruitment. Take our Junior Care Manager Sam, for example; Sam started with Right at Home Solent in 2020 as a CareGiver, progressing into a Team Leader, Client Relationship Lead, and Junior Care Manager. There are opportunities to suit everyone and endless possibilities.
Make a Difference Everyday
We try our best to match our Clients and CareGivers based on personal interests to build long-lasting and meaningful relationships. Some days you may be the only person they speak to, making your visit even more appreciated and valued. By being a CareGiver, you support Clients to live independently in their homes for longer. Building a good rapport is crucial to provide Outstanding Care to our Clients.
To work in a role so rewarding can shape who you are as a person and give you a sense of pride. Feel rewarded every day, knowing you are making a real difference.
Get to Know the Southampton Communtity
As a new student to the Southampton and Solent area, it can be hard to find your way around. As a CareGiver, you'll quickly settle in and get to know the local community. At Right at Home Solent, our CareGivers help in local support groups such as Memory Cafes and fundraisers. Client calls will help you find your way around the Southampton and Solent area in no time, and your Clients and colleagues might even help you find some local gems you wouldn't have come across in your typical student haunts. As you get to know your Clients and colleagues, you can also build local networks, which could help you with university projects and future jobs.
Training Provided - All You Need is a Positive Attitude!
Our CareGivers don't need previous experience in Care; we look for someone with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. You might already have some related work experience or skills that transfer to Care Work, including; helping a parent after an operation, looking after younger siblings or babysitting, listening to your friends and giving advice, and working in local communities and shops. All these experiences can provide you with the essential skills to start your career as a carer; and all the specialist and technical aspects of Care we cover in induction.
