History of Crewe:

Crewe is most famously known for the development of the railway, which grew within a significant amount of time and became a key station, serving as a gateway to the rest of the UK. Crewe played an important role during WW2, with the motor works (Rolls Royce) supplying the aircraft with Merlin engines and with being in the centre of the country, all trainlines transporting anything from soldiers to machinery most likely came through Crewe station. A little fun fact about the railway workers is that they very cleverly disguised one of their largest walls to appear as housing, rather than a workplace, preventing German aircraft from targeting them, click HERE to watch a short video or HERE to read more about Crewe’s history.

Events:

Crewe offers a lot of events through the council and local groups within the community; however, the most appealing attraction is usually the football club, Crewe Alexandra, who play at the Mornflake stadium and have a great atmosphere due to their dedicated fans. Another place that holds many events and shows is the Crewe Lyceum, which has been around since 1881! Crewe also has a modern lifestyle centre and a recently renovated market hall, to see more events that Crewe holds click HERE

Food and beverage:

As previously mentioned, the Market Hall is a highly rated place to go for food, with many different stalls located within one place in the centre of Crewe, it really has something for everyone, there are often live performances held which create a great atmosphere, however, if that doesn’t appeal to you, click HERE to find out about other popular places to eat in Crewe.
