Published: 24/05/2017
Dementia Awareness week 2017 has been a real success. Throughout the week we have delivered 6 Dementia Friends sessions in Crewe and Nantwich, creating an additional 84 Dementia Friends in the local area, reaching a total of 215 Friends in Crewe and Nantwich!
The sessions were extremely well received, with our Dementia Champion and Managing Director Ben Selby commenting “It’s been a fantastic week for Dementia Awareness, and the sessions we have delivered at Hibbert’s Solicitors, Haslington Scouts (Age 9-14 years), Our office, and Leighton Hospital have all helped us to work towards becoming a Dementia Friendly community.”
“As a home care team, we at Right at Home are committed to being not only dementia friendly but we are also continuing to develop our knowledge and skills so we are able to offer a truly specialised Dementia care and support service. We recently welcomed Sara Jones from The Namaste Care Team (part of The End of Life Partnership) to our office to provide additional training to our staff on how to support a person living with Dementia when they are no longer able to communicate. The programme focus’ on gentle communication techniques via the senses – vision, sound, loving touch, smell and taste. This will enable our CareGivers to support their Clients who live with a dementia throughout the progression of the disease.”
“As a business, we will continue being an active member of the Cheshire East Dementia Action Alliance and we will work tirelessly to help Crewe and Nantwich become a Dementia Friendly community – our target is to create 1000 Dementia Friends in the local area.”
