Making a Difference…. for 6 Months
Published: 05/06/2017
It’s now been 6 months since we opened are doors and began offering in-home care and support services in the Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding area.
We really are on a mission to make a difference every day to the lives of each and every one of our Clients and wherever possible the wider community.
I thought it would be interesting to share our progress so far, in particular some of our proudest moments and our plans for the future.
We now have a team of almost 20 Outstanding staff, all of whom I can honestly say I would have been more than happy for each and every one of them to have supported my Grandad when he needed support. Recruitment is the single most important part of what we do and right from Day 1 I have asked myself “Does this person pass my Grandad Test?”. That has meant conducting many interviews and telling many applicants that unfortunately they did not pass the test, but that gives me the peace of mind that the staff we have employed are truly special people and what a team we have.
We are now regularly supporting 18 people in the Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding area and we are quickly gaining a reputation as one of the best home care providers in the area. We currently have a score of 9.8/10 on Homecare.co.uk – the leading review website for Home Care providers, very similar to Trip Advisor.
We have received many fantastic testimonials from our clients and from their families. It’s hard to pick a favourite but here is one that I personally love to read:
“Since employing Right at Home, it has taken a load off my mind. I find the carers are kind and respectful. They have manged to get my wife out of bed most mornings to have a shower and her teeth cleaned although my wife does not remember who they are. Whilst they are helping my wife, I have heard them in the bedroom or in the shower room having a good old sing along together. It is nice to know that she is enjoying their company. My final words are KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.”

The Future
It goes without saying that we of course aim to continue providing a care service that improves the quality of life for our clients and their families, but we are now looking at taking our service to the next level. We have been working on our skills and techniques for working with people living with dementia at the advanced stages, which includes focussing on sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. We are also really looking forward to becoming more knowledgeable about Muscular Dystrophy, with a specialist training course arranged with the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford.
We are continuing with our mission to create 1000 Dementia Friends in the area, having reached 140 people so far. There’s a long way to go but with Dementia Awareness week (15th – 21st May) just around the corner, we have several sessions planned including Hibbert’s Solicitors, Haslington Cub Scouts, and Leighton Hospital.
We look forward to extending our services to Nantwich and the surrounding villages, having now established ourselves in and around Crewe. This will also mean expanding our team of CareGivers to around 40.
I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every single second of the journey so far, and there is never a day that I wake up and don’t want to come to work. Our team are just such amazing people and it’s a pleasure to work alongside so many passionate, caring and enthusiastic employees.
